Blue Ice Gear for sale in North America

Blue Ice is new  to the NA climbing market.  The company was established several years ago by a small group of dedicated European climbers with a history in the Industry.  Many of their designs are very innovative and fit in easily with what I have tried to do with Cold Thistle Tools.  I am honored that the company's President, Giovanni Rossi, has asked me to be the NA distributor for Blue Ice.

Our relationship started with me visiting the Blue Ice Office in Saint-Gervais-Le Fayet near Chamonix and bringing back several dozen pairs of Boa Leashes for friends and readers on the Cold Thistle Blog.

Blue Ice gear meets my personal expectations for alpine climbing.   You can expect more innovative gear as the company grows.  What follows is what I GENERALLY have available to ship immediately for the NA market.  But there are some new designs on the drawing boards that look very exciting as well we'll hopefully see in the near future.

Please note: All the Blue Ice prices listed on this page are quoted in and paid via Euros to avoid the differences in the US Dollar and Euro transactions.  Please be sure to check the current exchange rates.

a complete and *totally biased* review here:

http://coldthistle.blogspot.com/2011/07/blue-ice-new-warthog-alpine-pack.html

This pack has been extremely popular in the UK and EU and has been hard to come by as production tries to play catch up.  It is worth the wait imo if you like small, hard core, technical climbing packs.  Posers will hate this one.

The Mono Pack

Product overview:

Mono: minimalist backpack for multi pitch climbing.

Design & features:

In our series of climbing backpacks, mono is our most minimalist model, especially adapted for a multi pitch climb not far from the base camp.
Thanks to the clever 3- point/turnaround system, the content of the pack can easily be accessed with two simple movements: open the right buckle and turn the pack to the front. This system allows a great freedom of movement for the climber, and it also assures a safer manipulation at the belay station, without risking to loose any of the precious content you are carrying with you.

Loading & comfort:

The Mono has a volume of 7L, which is just enough room for what’s needed for a long rock climb: a pair of shoes for the approach, a windbreaker, some power bars, water... The Mono also features a small safety pocket for securing a wallet, keys or camera. To be able to carry the equipment and climbing gear the mono is also equipped with two gear loops plus a practical helmet mesh for approach.

Boa Leash:

Product overview:

The Boa Leash is an extremely lightweight leash with simple tool connections and adjustment possibilities, we hence call it the king of minimalistic design and comfort. The leash is delivered without carabiners which creates a negligible weight and allows the climber to use his or her preferred carabiners as explained in the instructions manual. A double loop allows to fine tune the length when connecting to the harness, giving the climber an excellent amount of freedom to adjust the leash for best result.
